Thing 5

A friend got married a few weeks ago. She had perhaps the most fabulous wedding I have ever been to. Since I was taking a million pictures that night friends asked me to share the photos with them. The next morning I logged onto www.flickr.com, uploaded my photos, and shared them with my friends. I am also a member of a knitting community that uses flickr as the way to share photos with the community. After looking through this "Thing", I went back and added tags to a few of my knitting projects.

I then explored a few of the library groups. I was particularly baffled by the Second Life Library 2.0 group. I was trying to figure out why librarians need to be involved--as a group--with Second Life (and I was trying to figure out what Second Life is). I googled Second Life Library 2.0 and decided that this group must be a way for librarians from all over the place to get together in the virtual world. The main thing that I noticed librarians are using flickr groups for is a way to share what they are doing in the library with other librarians--either within the same region or throughout the world.

Thing 4

My blog is finally registered! It was a bit daunting due to the lameness of the "Dots" template. I saw that it didn't have a title (or dots for that matter) and changed it. But I had a student standing next to me asking if I was going to play rehearsals right now (as in hurry up and finish that) and I suppose I missed the save button. When I got home, "Dots" was still there and my title was not. Now all is well. And I got to play rehearsals on time.

Thing 3

The hardest part of this Thing was coming up with a title for my blog. I had such a hard time that I asked my Creative Writing class to think of a title. Even they had a hard time coming up with something creative, except one person who thought of: "A Compendium of Carbon and Silicone Based Transfer Media," which is, unfortunately, way too long to fit in the space provided. Right now "Insert Blog Title Here" will have to do.

I already had a blog from a previous course (and perhaps a future knitting blog) so I had no trouble setting up my blog. I don't like my template and will probably change it a hundred times! I walked in on out librarian making her avatar one afternoon, and, like the nerd I am, I went home and made one myself. I chose a basic black dress because I liked the silhouette. I put on a black scarf because I knit. And the two cats represent my two cats.

The only blog that I have looked at is our fabulous librarian's. I have not left a comment.

I'm glad that this part is over so that I can move on to the fun stuff!

Thing 2

I strongly believe in being a lifelong learner--and I am indeed a lifelong learner. After looking through the 7 ½ Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, I'll be honest: habit # 7 1/2 (Play) is the easiest one for me. But, the second easiest is habit # 1 (Begin with the end in mind). I usually know what my goal is and know exactly how I want everything to "look." I've been told that I like to control the situation. The most difficult habit is # 5 (Create your own learning toolbox)--in fact, I'm still not even sure I know what that means...
